Mottistone Manor Farmhouse B&B
The house and surrounding countryside are owned by the National Trust in a designated 'area of outstanding natural beauty'. It is criss-crossed with walking tracks, bridle paths and long distance routes. The sea is one mile to the south and offers opportunities for relaxing, swimming, surfing and even fossil hunting along this ‘dinosaur’ coastline. It is ideal for walking, cycling, sight seeing or visiting the multitude of attractions on the island.
The village of Brighstone is approximately one mile east with local shops, pub, tea rooms, museum and a restaurant. At Hulverstone, half a mile west, lies the Sun Inn, which is a pleasant pub with both a homely bar and good restaurant. The hourly No. 7 bus from Freshwater to Newport stops at the end of the drive and connects with all other island buses. The gardens looked spectacular in April 2009, when the Magnolia was in full bloom
The heady smell of coconut from the gorse is fantastic this year. This view, towards St Catherine's Point, is just 200 metres behind our house.
